My friend Trina and I went to check out a place called the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area this past week...it was beautiful and I loved seeing the trees starting to change colour and the random beautiful red leaves everywhere.

52 Week Challenge - Week 37

this week's them was "kitchen".

Here's a picture of my kitchen...it truly is my dream kitchen and the reason we bought this house, we love it!  This is the tidiest it's been in a long time!  There's usually a mound of junk sitting on the island and a bunch of dishes in the sink...as soon as the kids get home from school, their books and lunch bags will be plopped down on the island

Urban Tags - Local Business in Stittsville

I recently had the pleasure of taking pictures of an amazing Local Business called Urban Tags.  This store is a hidden gem and will now be one of my most frequent shopping places!

Urban Tags  (located at 1 Hobin Street in Stittsville) sells new and consigned brand name clothing and Accessories for women and teens.   I love that not only do you get to save money on trendy clothing (especially important to me since I have a teenage daughter :)) but you're also helping the environment at the same time.

You're greeted at the door by two adorable mannequins...

It's fun to see what they'll be wearing each time you come in!

The store is beautifully decorated and there are lots of treasures in every corner!

I was really impressed by the selection of brand name fashions...Hollister, Lululemon, Guess and so much more!

there are lots of gorgeous accessories...jewelry, shoes and purses (looking through my photos, I just noticed a beautiful Coach bag that I may run over and check out unless someone beats me to it! :))

 While you're there, don't forget to look in the adorable dressing room!

52 Week Challenge - Week 36

This week's theme was "spice" so I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about my absolute favourite spice blend.  It's a salsa spice sold by the company Epicure Selections and is extremely delicious...so much so that as soon as I tasted it, I decided to join the company and sell their products so I could get the spice for free (I love a deal, so why not?  :)).  Well, that was 7 years ago and i'm still with the company.

How does it work?  Just add a tbsp of the spice mix to a cup of diced tomatoes or if you're lazy like me, just take a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes (I like the no salt added ones) and add two 2tbsp of the spice mix and voila, you have super tasty salsa that tastes homemade without all the work!  If you want to get super fancy, you can add a squirt of lime juice and a bit of extra cilantro.

If you look in my fridge, there's always a batch made...this post is making me so hungry that I think i'll make tacos for dinner!  :)

Fall Mini Sessions 2012

It's hard to believe that the kids are back in school and Fall is almost upon us!  The good news is.....

Back by popular demand,  my Fall Mini Sessions are almost here!   An inexpensive way to update your family photos during Ottawa's photogenic time of the year and a great time to get your holiday photo cards done.

You may be thinking....What is a mini session?!

Mini sessions are quick and casual!  

• They're only 20 minutes in length
• They're only $75 with the option to prepay for additional prints at big savings (see packages below)
• They're done at one specific location of my choosing. A park in Kanata
• Receive approximately 10-15 proofs in your private online gallery.

Payment is due up-front to secure your time slot and/or package discounts.  The session feel covers up to 5 family members.  Additional people $15 each.  

Note:  although you have to commit to the pre-pay and save packages up front, you do have the option of paying in installments if  needed, with your final payment due on the day of the session.

52 Week Challenge - Week 35

This week's theme was "sunset".  I thought it would be the perfect time to share this picture of my nephew that I love...it makes me smile every time I look at it!  We rented a cottage with my family back in July and I thought I would play around with my flash by getting the older kids to jump around and I would freeze their action in front of the sunset.  My nephew wanted to join in on the fun.

Isn't he a sweetie?!  He has named himself "Chuck-it"...what a character!
