52 Week Challenge - Week 17

This week's theme was "Trees" which gave me the perfect excuse to take a picture of my favourite tree.  When we bought our property, we didn't realize there was a gorgeous large apple tree in the back.  We came to check out land in the Spring when the hole was just about to be dug for our house and we got a beautiful surprise...a large tree in full bloom, we were thrilled!  Each year we anxiously wait for it to bloom, usually around Mother's Day.  This year we had unusually warm weather in the Spring so the tree is just about ready to bloom already.  I can't wait to see it, it looks like it's going to put on a great show this year!

**update**

We had a beautiful foggy morning on Friday so I went out a took some pictures of my beautiful apple tree...the blooms are already starting to open.  These two pictures are taken 4 days after the above one.   I love my tree!

52 Week Challenge - Week 16

This week's theme was "Growth".  My son just had his Birthday this past week and it just so happens that every year we do a little photo shoot on his Birthday with his bear we call The Birthday Bear.  He wasn't in the mood for photos but I did manage to get this one that I thought was cute.

Here is the very first Birthday Bear photo shoot that we did 10 years ago on my son's one week Birthday...I can't believe how much he's grown!

Little Cutie / Kanata Newborn Photographer

A beautiful little Newborn came to visit me at my home studio.  She was such a doll and I had a blast dressing her up in headbands and cute little tutus!  She wasn't afraid to let me know that she didn't like hats but she let me get one photo. :)  (My mother made the cute little hat, isn't she talented?!)

She's very loved and already has Daddy wrapped around her finger!  :)

52 Week Challenge - Week 15

This weeks challenge was "Work".  It looks like i'm going to be doing headshots of some of the people at my husband's workplace (about 60 people) so I went into his work to check it out and do a few test shots using him as my model.  The first picture is his typical smile when I take his picture but the second one is his real smile...my daughter said something to him which made him laugh, I love it!

52 week Challenge - Week 14

This week's theme was "Excitement".   We were in Toronto for Easter this weekend and the kids were super excited that the Easter Bunny found them and left eggs for them to find!  They managed to not destroy their grandparents condo during the hunt and seemed to have the most fun opening up the eggs to see what was inside.

52 Week Challenge - Week 13

April is crazy Birthday month in my family....most of our friends and family have a Birthday this month!  "Planning" was the perfect theme for this week's challenge.  Right now i'm planning my son's 10th Birthday party.  He wants a Pokemon theme but there doesn't seem to be much in the stores so i'm having to make everything myself.  Here are the invitations that i'm working on:

I used one of my son's Pokeballs as a model and tried to copy it by tracing a small round bowl on white cardstock and cutting it out.  I then did the same thing with red card stock and cut the circles in half.  I glued the red half circle to the white circle then used my circle punch to punch out a small circle for the centre.  I thought it would be cute if the small circle stuck out (would look more like a button) so i used some 3D dimensional stickers that i had to attach the circle.  I then finished them off by taking a black marker and adding a line across the whole thing and around the centre circle.   I'm going to print out the party details and glue them on the back and voila, an invitation!  My son loves them!  I'm thinking the front is a bit plain so I might write "I choose you" on it.  Now to figure out the actual party!  I think I might make bigger versions of the pokeballs for decorations and have lots of red, white and black balloons.  The cake will probably just be a round cake decorated to look like a pokeball.

If anyone would like to play along, next week's challenge is "Excitement".
