Winter wonderland

I love it when the snow sticks to the trees, it's so beautiful! This is the view from my back door (it was snowing pretty hard and I didn't want to venture out with my new lens :))

So...I've decided to take the plunge, i'm going to set up a photography business! So exciting and scary at the same time. This picture is for me to look at when I doubt myself (it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted but it gives the message I wanted)

Tourist Day - we decided to go skating on the rideau canal skateway....this is the best picture I could get as there was a lot of whining going on (including from myself...the ice was really rough today).

for those of you that would like some info about the rideau canal skateway, here's a little blurb. It's usually a lot of fun and you can grab a beavertail for a snack if you get hungry:

In winter, a section of the Rideau Canal passing through central Ottawa becomes officially the world's largest skating rink. The cleared length is 7.8 kilometres (4.8 miles) and has the equivalent surface area of 90 Olympic hockey rinks



I thought the kid on the left hand side of this picture looked hilarious:

Cheers to my Best Friend Jane on her 40th birthday! We've been through some pretty amazing times over the past 10 years and I look forward to many more.....I hope I look as good as her when I hit the big 4-0 in a few years.

Self Portrait Wednesday.....I didn't actually take this one today but I wanted a self portrait in Arizona so took this earlier in the week.

February 16th

The weather in Arizona was so beautiful that the kids got lots of time in the pool.

This was our last day....boohoo, we're now back in the snow!

February 15th

We went to Pro's Ranch Market....thank you Jill for telling me about the place! For those of you in Ottawa, it's like a mexican farm boy. We had a blast checking out all the different types of food. The smells in the bakery were amazing...they has so many delicious looking pastries!

I decided to take pictures of things that you wouldn't see in an Ottawa grocery store

This I thought was the most weird....cactus leaves, i'm not sure what you would do with them (I don't think they would make a very tasty salad)!



The ceiling at the front entrance (where all the booze is located :)) was covered with pinatas



These are Agua Fresca (hope I spelt that right) or Fruit drinks



Lots of chilis!





We ended up buying fresh tortillas, jalapeno peppers and other ingredients to make a delicious Fajita supper....it was very tasty!!

February 14th

We went for a hike on Superstition Mountain today...it was beautiful!

February 13th

We went to a restaurant called "Peter Piper's Pizza" for dinner and the kids loved it! For those of you in the ottawa area, it's a like a pizza restaurant with a kidszone/cosmic adventure play area in the back. You buy tokens with your meal then the kids can play games and win tickets. They take the tickets and can buy a "cool prize" or as I would call it "a cheap junky prize".

This is the seat for the Deal or No Deal game...so much fun!

February 12th

I took an online course this past summer and the amazing teacher, Wendy Schulz, happens to live in Arizona so I had the pleasure of meeting up with her today and some of her past students for a photo shoot. We decided to meet at a junkyard and it was so much fun...lots of interesting things to shoot!

We headed to sunny Arizona today to visit my parents.

I thought my friend was insane when she decided to paint her front door this bright yellow (shh, I hope you're not reading this Jane :)) but I have to say that it looks great in pictures. She always has a cute wreath hanging on her door for every holiday

February 9th

I am LOVING my new lens!

I took so many pictures today that I had a hard time choosing which one post. I decided to go with this one because there's no way I would have been able to get these with my old lens...we were in a Starbucks that was very dark inside. These are my friends' treats...I wouldn't let her eat them until I took a picture :)

February 8th

I bought myself a present today, isn't it beautiful....I'm so excited! Now it'll be so much easier to take natural light pictures indoors.

This is the last picture i'll be taking with my old crappy lens which will now be going into retirement

We went to Absolute Comedy then Pub Italia to celebrate our 19th annual Buddy Day.

A nice guy came over and said he'll take the picture for us and I said "no, I have to take it myself"...he gave me the strangest look! :)
