This week's them was "Time".
Time has been going so fast this summer! The beginning of the summer was hectic with traveling and visiting family so for the last week we've been enjoying hanging out, reading and watching lots of the Olympics
My son is currently reading the Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan (excellent books!) and is on the second last book...new book comes out in September, I can't wait! :)

52 Week Challenge - Week 29
This week's word was "Summer". One of the things I used to love about the Summer was going to Drive-In movies. Last week we rented a cottage with my family near a town in Ontario called Picton and we noticed a sign for a Drive-In theatre. There aren't anymore Drive-In's where we live so we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce the kids to Drive-In movies.
We arrived with lots of goodies...drinks, candy, sunflower seeds and popcorn (plus m&m's to make what we call "popcorn surprise"). The first movie was Ice Age 4 and the second was Brave.
Despite the heat and mosquitos we had a great time and when I asked the kids their favourite things about our vacation, the Drive-In was one of the highlights!

52 Week Challenge - Week 28
This week's theme is "Family"... I feel blessed to not only have been born into an amazing family but also to have married into one as well!
We recently spent a week at my in-law's cottage and I was able to snap a picture of my Barbeau Family:
and shortly after, we rented a cottage near Sandbanks with the Wagner Family:
It's been a fantastic summer so far spending time with the people we love!

Family of Four - Ottawa Family Photographer
I had a wonderful time with this family exploring the Ornamental Gardens of the Experimental Farm. Such a beautiful location and a fun family...the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning!

52 Week Challenge - Week 27
This week's theme was Lighting Experimentation. I'm currently reading a book called "Understanding Flash Photography" by Bryan Petersen (great book if you would like to learn how to use your flash in manual mode) and in it he showed an example of a picture of a water drop using his flash...I thought it looked really cool so wanted to try it out myself. Here's how it turned out...
First I took a large bowl out of the cupboard and turned it upside down and put it in the sink. I then covered it with piece of colourful fabric. On top of that I put a glass bowl half filled with water and turned the tap on so that a slow drip was coming out and landing in the bowl. I had my flash off camera on the side of the sink pointing towards the water drop then took a picture. I don't have a macro lens so had to make due with my 24-70mm lens. I love the way it turned out anyways.

52 Week Challenge - week 26
Wow, it's hard to believe that i'm already half way through the challenge that i'm doing this year. This week i'm a bit late as I just got back from a wonderful week at my in-law's beautiful cottage. My plan for this week's theme of "red and white" was to get a nice pic of my kids dressed in red and white to celebrate Canada Day.
As you can see, my kids weren't being very cooperative!
If you would like to play along, the next theme is "Lighting Experimentation" which I hope to complete in the next couple of days followed by next week's "Family" theme.

I let them get there sillyness out of their systems for a few minutes then I managed to get them to cooperate for a picture.
